Taking a Community Specific Approach

Taking a Community Specific Approach

Interior Health is taking a community specific approach to immunize communities with:

  • Small populations, and
  • Barriers to accessing larger immunization clinics, such as long distance travel

Please note that for most of these communities, residents 18+ are eligible. There are some exceptions, however, for communities starting with other age groups before opening appointments for residents 18+.

Will I have to prove that I live in the community holding a community specific clinic?

Clinic schedules are based on the population sizes of communities and cannot accommodate people outside of these communities. You will need to confirm your home community through your postal code when booking your appointment.

In addition, at your appointment, you will need to provide your driver license or government identification to verify your postal code. Without this confirmation, you cannot proceed with your vaccination.

Communities Eligible for Community Specific Clinics

Please note that for most of these communities, residents 18+ are eligible. There are some exceptions, however, for communities starting with other age groups before opening appointments for residents 18+.

How to register for a Community Specific Clinic

Residents of the communities above can register for their vaccine appointment at community specific clinics by calling 1-833-838-2323 between 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m., PDT, seven days a week or register online with your Personal Health Number:

The exceptions are residents of Alexis Creek, Crawford Bay, Riondel, and Tatla Lake, who will be contacted directly by Interior Health to book their appointments.

What information do I need to provide?

  • legal name
  • date of birth
  • postal code to confirm your home community
  • personal health number (PHN) from the back of B.C. driver’s licence, BC services cards, or BC Care Card, and
  • current contact information, including an email address you or your family checks regularly

Once your appointment is booked you will receive a confirmation email.

We remind everyone to be vigilant against fraud. Our call centre will never ask for financial information, credit card details, or social insurance numbers.

What if I can’t make it to the scheduled clinic date?

If you cannot make the dates scheduled for your community you can book a vaccine appointment in one of our larger clinics once your age cohort is eligible. Watch our webpage for more information about who is eligible and how to register.
